Who Magu is
The keeper of the hemp garden
Magu is a figure from Chinese legend, long associated with hemp, longevity and the mountains. She is not our invention, and she is not our mascot. She is the reason this shop looks the way it does.
Historical inspiration
The fullest early account of Magu (麻姑) is in Ge Hong's Shenxian zhuan, fourth century CE, where she remarks that she has three times seen the Eastern Sea turn into fields of mulberry — a line that survives as a Chinese idiom for the vastness of time. She is a Daoist immortal, later associated with longevity, and the first character of her name is the ordinary word for hemp. Accounts of her differ between sources and between centuries.
Our interpretation
What follows is ours, not history: we borrow her garden as an image of how we would like to work — patiently, and with hemp treated as a plant worth describing accurately rather than selling loudly. Nothing here should be read as a claim about the legend, or about what our products will do for you.

Where do you ship, and what does it cost?
We ship within the United States only. Standard shipping is free on every order, and a paid express option is offered at checkout.
Is this legal where I live?
We cannot answer that for you, and we would be wrong to try. The 2018 Farm Bill defines hemp federally by delta-9 THC content, but states set their own rules and several restrict or prohibit THCA products specifically. Please check your state’s law before ordering — and if these products are not lawful where you live, do not buy them here.
Do you publish lab results?
Not on this site. We will not describe testing we cannot show you. If you want to know what documentation exists for a particular product, write to us and we will tell you honestly what we do and do not have.
